Catch Up Premium

COVID-19 CATCHUP FUNDING STATEMENT

A £1 billion fund for education was announced by the government in June 2020 https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-catch-up-premium

The catch-up premium funding is based on a per pupil basis at £80 per pupil Reception to Year 6. Funding is based on the previous year’s census and it is anticipated Glebe Primary  will receive approximately £47,000 across the course of the year.  Schools have the flexibility to spend their funding in the best way for their cohort and circumstances.

To support schools to make the best use of this funding, the Education Endowment Foundation has published a support guide for schools with evidence-based approaches to catch up for all students. https://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/public/files/Publications/Covid-19_Resources/Covid-19_support_guide_for_schools.pdf

There are two primary areas of focus:

  1.  Assessment to identify age related scores and consequently teacher Led interventions in order to help those needing to "Catch Up".

  2. The mental and physical health needs are being met within the school.

To meet these aims, the money will be used to provide:

  • Teacher-led targeted booster interventions across the school
  • Assessments through InCAS (Interactive Computer Assessment System- through CEM assessments) which gives an age-equivalent score for reading, spelling, maths and mental maths as well as scores showing the children's attitudes towards school and their learning.
  • Curriculum resources and materials that support “catch up” and  the mental health of pupils.
  • Further up skilling of support staff to develop the outcomes of children who have been identified as needing “catch up” in their learning.
  • Further opportunities for children to improve their levels of fitness and stamina. PSD (Primary Sporting Development) to continue their offer of CPD for all teachers to ensure lessons are engaging and challenging for all.
