This website is run by Glebe Primary School and this statement applies to https://www.glebe.hillingdon.sch.uk/. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. Therefore, you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Accessibility Features

Despite the partial exemption for schools, we strive to ensure our website conforms to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards. Therefore, we have ensured the following website features:

  • Responsive Design: Our website is designed to work on various devices and screen sizes, including desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Keyboard Navigation: The website is navigable via keyboard to accommodate users who cannot use a mouse.
  • Text Readability: We use clear and legible fonts, sufficient colour contrast, and adjustable text size to enhance readability.
  • Alternative Text: Images and graphics include descriptive alternative text to assist users with visual impairments.
  • Captioning and Transcripts: Multimedia content, such as videos, includes captions or transcripts where applicable.
  • Links: We use clear descriptors for any embedded links.
  • Tables: Tables have appropriate headings set to allow screen readers or keyboard navigation systems to access the information.
  • Form auto complete: adding validation to forms enables our forms to be auto-completed.

Non-compliant content

Whilst we endeavour to ensure accessibility for all, we know that some parts of this website may not be fully accessible yet. These may include:

  • older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software and images within PDF documents do not contain alternative text features.
  • embedded Google Maps are not accessible within the site.
  • third party plugins may not be fully accessible.
  • some video content may not include captions.
  • some images may contain textual content that is inaccessible to assistive technologies.
